IF It Sounds Too Good To Be True, It Usually Is

If you’ve been eyeing a digital marketing career, you’ve probably seen various upskilling ads. And if you’re already a digital marketer or in a similar profession, chances are the ads have also popped up for you.

Most of these courses make promises such as “Become the top 1% in Marketing”, “No Experience Required”, “Gain Practical Digital Marketing Skills”, “Win Digital Marketing Strategy,” “Increase Traffic and Sales,” and “Become industry ready”, and so on.

All these ads and course descriptions are highly persuasive. In reality, they are often misleading or even outright deceptive. This makes it crucial for consumers/learners like you and me to discern before purchasing.

Sometimes, no matter how much you try to look up, read, and research before purchasing, you still may buy an ineffective course.

Before we continue, note that I’ll use “digital marketing courses” interchangeably to refer to other courses that fall under the umbrella of digital marketing — like content marketing, SEO, personal branding, and social media marketing.
